The best thing about autumn, is the feel of the crisp air that seems to kiss your face as you seamlessly walk out the door. I live for the roasted creamy warm inviting lattes and soft rich desserts that just make me so excited that fall is here.
It may seem like summer came and went, but this year the autumn styles are flooding the store window displays in such an energetic way. I love nothing better than seeing the new styles not just in the stores but overlapped on some chic people. I don’t know about you, but I love nothing than to style watch. It gives you a much-needed sense of what someone’s personality is like, and you get to see some trendy impressive outfits.
For myself, every year I transition my wardrobe. And indulge in sipping a nice hot cup of tea or coffee and try on every jumper, cardigan, and fabulous scene stealing coat, I can get my hands on and the many boots in anticipation, for the many ways I will be wearing them all this season.
This year, I love to get rid of pieces that just don’t speak to me, or I simply have zero interest in and replace them with something more enticing. One rule I’ve always had is when it comes to trends in general, less is more and always invest wisely. When you hear the word investment this doesn’t automatically mean spend more by any means. It just suggests picking up pieces that you know first-hand you will get plenty of use out of. And what better way to invest your money than buying transitional “it” pieces for fall 2022.
These items are worthy of your undivided attention and pieces you know won’t hang in your closet unused and forgotten. Because who knows, you might just have a brand-new outfit in mind, for a fabulous great day or night out. If you own that go-to piece than you know first-hand it will complete many outfits for special occasions or just a dressy time while browsing the shops. Why should your outfit be boring?
When it comes to the latest trends for fall, these pieces are worth the investment. Trust me since you will have them for years to come.
These 9 trends here are worth the investment for fall 2022.
Power Suits

I am not kidding. The Power suit has been done, we get it…but you see that early 80’s high shoulders and fierce take charge persona is always in style. And for autumn 2022, it seems this trend is here to stay and going stronger than ever. What is even sleeker is how comfort has come into play, with people rocking the power suit with sneakers, flats, and even ankle boots so they can look sophisticated without having sore feet at the end of the day. What I love about power suits is how you can wear them so many ways to fit your own personality.
Leather Trench Coat

I love the classic trench coat. Burberry is one British fashion house that has done this timeless item justice. And so many other brands have followed. But besides the classic trench that is iconic, lately brands have been putting an edgier spin on this evergreen item with a leather trench coat. It gives off such a 90s nostalgic vibe and makes you want to rock it even in the wettest days. I love how it can be worn casual during the day than throw it over a dress for a night-time glamour look.
Faux Fur Of Course

Faux fur will always be an autumn staple. It is not only glamours, but you can wear it with so many looks. And it just feels so incredibly luxurious. For a great style tip, you want the coat to be the focus of your outfit. Let it shine and be the star instead of the supporting actress. And when picking a great faux fur coat, stay in a neutral pallet this way it matches most things and can be worn a lot more.
Statement Boots

You can’t forget about your feet. Boots are so important for fall. They not only keep your feet warm in the cooler weather, but you can style your outfit completely around them. Especially, if they happen to make an iconic statement. Just walking in them sets your entire mood for the week and for the entire months ahead. Pick a timeless boot that feels like your favourite pair of boots you have owned for years. Or if you are the daring type, try a bold colour. Always embrace the chameleon inside of you.
Preppy Look for Adults

Apparently, the back-to-school preppy look is taking over the trends for autumn and being on trend is no exception. This is a fun style and can be easily put together with pieces that represent a prep school vibe, which can be fun even for the most unconventional fashionista. Think plaid coats, polo collared tops, and peacoats, it is all about presenting yourself to the entire world when leaving the house. Think polished and always put together.
Anything Upcycled & Vintage

What is old is new again. No really, this is a fact. With the Y2K trends coming and people thrifting once more in many ways. This trend is one I can get on board with. Think looking at consignment shops for those early vintage pieces, and even some 90s and 2000s action. Instead of buying new items, since the quality tends to be much better upcycled. You don’t even have to shop at all, try your own closet and re-wear pieces that just give you those old school vibes.
70s Denim

Skinny jeans will be in until the end of time, but it seems straight leg and 70s flared jeans are making their way even into fall. You can wear them differently by trying not your traditional denim material. Go with a corduroy material, or even leather, velvet, and a unique pattern. This way you give this retro style a new face lift for this season. I love the idea of a corduroy because you mix a classic with new take.
Satchel Bags Are Everywhere

We all adore our dressy smaller bags, but practicality seems to be invading the streets. When it comes to the best accessory to invest in and have always at your side, it is a satchel bag. Most of the time, they are great since you can fit a lot inside without worrying about having to downsize before even heading out the door. My advice is to go with a classic leather or patent material for a classic and chicer look. I love Balenciaga and Saint Laurent for some classic satchels. But so many brands have them. The best thing to remember is the style. If you go structured that gives off a dressier look and can be business and work bag oriented, where a softer and slouchier silhouette has a more casual and relaxed grab and go feel to it. I personally, love and own both styles.
Colour Invasion

Fall is always a time when you can add a pop of colour. Red and Burgundy are always the most popular. But what about the offset colours that no one considers to be fall like? Why can’t they come out and shine in the streets? Well, this is simple. Go with the bold colours not always meant for fall season. Rules can be broken this is true when it comes to fashion in general and especially trends. If anyone tells you otherwise than they take themselves too seriously. The best thing to remember is to go after colours that draw you and you can start off with an accessory if you are apprehensive or go all out and monochrome your look. Add other bold colours to mix with the prominent one. This will just highlight your great taste and show how much fun you are.

I love all the boots, although I have to be careful with boots as I need a wider calf fitting than most :( Love the leather trenchcoat too, although not sure it would survive a muddy walk in the country!
ReplyDeleteLoving the statement boots, satchel bags, and 70's denim. So much amazing fashion here!

Those long leather trench coats are so sexy, aren't they?! And I'm loving the faux fur. I've always struggled to wear it though, I find that it often wears me, rather than the other way around. But I shall continue to try it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
